Sodium nitrate, melting point 306.8℃, density 2.257 g/cm3 (20℃), colorless transparent or white microstrip yellow diamond crystal. Its taste is bitter and salty, easy to dissolve in water and liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in glycerol and ethanol, easy to be delirious, especially in the presence of a very small amount of sodium chloride impurities, sodium nitrate delirious greatly increased. When dissolved in water, the temperature of the solution decreases and the solution becomes neutral. On heating, sodium nitrate readily breaks down into sodium nitrite and oxygen. To use:
Used in the enamel industry as a flux, oxidant and raw material for the preparation of enamel powder.
Used as decolorizer, defoamer, clarifier and oxidizing flux in glass industry.
Used in the inorganic industry as a decolorizer for molten caustic soda and in the manufacture of other nitrates. Used in the food industry as a coloring agent in meat processing, it can prevent meat from spoiling and play a flavoring role.

Storage Precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The storage temperature shall not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 80%. Should be stored separately with reducing agent, active metal powder, acid, easy (combustible), etc., do not mix storage. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials for leakage.
