Soluble in water, alkaline solution, insoluble in ethanol, acetone and ether. Strong hygroscopicity, exposed to the air can absorb carbon dioxide and water, into potassium bicarbonate, should be sealed packaging. Hydrate has one water, two water, three water. Potassium carbonate solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol and ether.
Potassium carbonate contains no water or 1.5 molecules of crystalline products. Anhydrous substance is white granular powder, crystal is white translucent small crystal or particle, odorless, strong alkali taste, relative density 2.428(19℃), melting point 891℃, strong moisture absorbability, easy to absorb moisture in wet air solution, exposed to the air can absorb carbon dioxide and water, into potassium bicarboate, should be sealed packaging. Hydrate has one water, two water, three water. Potassium carbonate solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol and ether.
Production process:
Electrolysis: potassium hydroxide solution obtained by electrolysis of potassium chloride is carbonized with carbon dioxide in the carbonization tower. The potassium bicarbonate is obtained by evaporation and filtration with multi-effect evaporator, and then the product is calcined.
To use:
Mainly used for analyzing reagents. Such as high purity analysis, emission spectrum analysis. It can also be used as flux for silicates and insoluble sulfates, water absorbent for organic liquids and electroplating, chemical fertilizer and photography industries.
Used for glass, printing and dyeing, soap, enamel, preparation of potassium salt, decarbonylation of synthetic ammonia, color TV industry, as leavening agent in food; As gas adsorbent, dry powder fire extinguishing agent, rubber anti-aging agent, etc.; Used for washing and processing of exposed photosensitive materials.
Structural formula
It is used in the manufacture of glass shell of electronic industry picture tube, decarbonization of chemical fertilizer production, sylvite production, as analytical reagent and flux, and also used in the preparation of various sylvite. Flux for analytical reagents, reference reagents, and fused silicates and insoluble sulfates.
Do desiccant in chemical experiments. Its water absorption capacity is medium, and it can form potassium carbonate with two crystal water (K2CO3·2H2O), but its interaction with water is slow. Suitable for dry alcohol, ester and other neutral organic matter and general alkaline organic matter such as amine, alkaloid. But not as a desiccant of acids, phenols or other acidic substances.
Notes:
The packing should be complete and the loading should be safe when shipped. Make sure that containers do not leak, collapse, fall or damage during transportation. Do not mix with oxidants, acids, food chemicals, etc. Be protected from sun, rain and high temperature during transportation. Vehicles should be thoroughly cleaned after transportation.
